Railway net is comparatively developed between the countries (Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia), though somewhere it can be quite poor. If you prefer to travel South America by car, you'd better drive along Pan-American Highway, or other international highways, as other national highways are of rather bad quality and poorly paved, the exceptions are Brazilian, Argentinian and Peruvian national highways. Airports are thought to be perfect ways of getting to South America and moving around it. In comparison with EU and UA fees they are rather cheap.

Travel South America can be budget, but this doesn't stand in your way to get a rush!
